Twitvid to donate $1 for every 1,000 views to Cleanwater.org

29th June 2011

Hi Everyone!

This is a very exciting day for TwitVid. We’re beginning a joint program with Cleanwater.org to help bring safe and clean drinking water to people in developing nations.

Diseases from unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. Children are especially vulnerable, as their bodies aren’t strong enough to fight diarrhea, dysentery and other illnesses.  Many of these diseases are preventable. The UN predicts that one tenth of the global disease burden can be prevented simply by improving water supply and sanitation.

Now we’ve made it really easy for you to help make a difference—simply by watching videos on TwitVid that are part of our Cleanwater.org effort.  Anyone with more than 50,000 Twitter followers can opt-in to the Cleanwater TwitVid effort by opting in to the program when uploading a video from Twitvid.com.  Once someone enters their video into the effort, TwitVid will then donate $1 for every 1,000 US video views that video generates. What can you do? If you have over 50,000 Twitter followers, upload videos on Twitvid.  For those of you that want to help but don’t have that many followers, you can watch people that are have generously registered their videos. The more of you that view, the more TwitVid donates to Cleanwater.org.  Comic star Dane Cook is on board.  Support Dane’s Cleanwater efforts by watching his videos here http://www.twitvid.com/videos/danecook

Encourage your favorite celebrities with over 50,000 followers to join the Cleanwater TwitVid effort. Retweet this link so your followers can come to TwitVid and find out who is helping.

Together we can make a difference for those in the world that need clean water to survive.
